Telegram 13.0.3 release notes: features, fixes and Android compatibility

· Android · 13.0.3

These notes cover Telegram Android 13.0 and 13.0.3: welcome messages, buttons inside messages, inline files, signed gifts, recording changes, key fixes and the Android 6.0 minimum requirement.

Features covered by the official announcement

Group and channel welcome messages

Welcome content is visible only to each new member. Multiple messages, media and rich text are supported, with corresponding administrator permissions.

Buttons inside messages

Rich text can contain buttons for links, copying content and opening user profiles. Bots can combine them with ephemeral messages for surveys, games and product workflows.

Inline files

Documents, files and music can appear between blocks of rich text.

Gift signatures and comments

Collectible gifts bought and sent through the marketplace can include signatures and comments, with chat previews and public-comment actions.

Update placeholders

Older clients that cannot display a new message or content block show a placeholder and an update button.

Source implementations and experimental features

The following details come from the source comparison supplied for this article; the source code has not been independently reviewed here. An implementation does not guarantee general availability. Access depends on the build, device and server configuration.

Built-in Gram wallet (13.0)

Includes wallet creation/import, recovery phrases, backups, sending/receiving funds, transfers in chats, transaction history, collectibles, TON Connect app connections and password/fingerprint confirmation. The entry point is controlled by server configuration.

Round video recording

Adds a Camera2 implementation and resolution, frame rate, bitrate and round-style settings. 60 FPS requires device support. These settings are experimental.

Voice recording (13.0.3)

Adds a recording implementation and an RNNoise noise-suppression option. Default activation depends on debug-build configuration; the settings entry is experimental.

WEB proxy

Adds a proxy connection through an HTTPS page inside a private WebView. The code labels it a proof of concept, mainly for foreground testing.

Bot username rules

Adds Premium-only suffixes, username count limits and related validation messages.

Key fixes

  • Fixes sending as a file and sharing files from other apps.
  • Fixes persistent bot keyboards preventing the system Back button from working.
  • Fixes EMAIL_NOT_ALLOWED messages on email-code and two-step verification screens.
  • Instant View links now follow the in-app browser setting.
  • Fixes an incorrect “Set as main tab” action for supergroups.
  • Fixes gift sorting offsets on profile pages.
  • Fixes landscape video fitting, Bluetooth LE Audio call routing and vibration issues on some Android versions.
  • Fixes duplicate FakeTLS handshake extensions.

Android compatibility changes

Minimum Android version increases from 5.0 to 6.0; target SDK increases from 35 to 36. Android 5.x devices do not meet this version’s minimum requirement. The separate “Use proxy for calls” toggle is removed from proxy settings. Major native-library, emoji-asset and submodule changes require derivative-client maintainers to review build and dependency compatibility.

Questions before updating

Will every user see the Gram wallet?

No. Its entry point depends on server configuration and may differ between builds.

Can every device record round videos at 60 FPS?

No. Device support is required, and the relevant settings are experimental.

Can this version run on Android 5.0?

The minimum requirement is Android 6.0; Android 5.x does not meet it.

Sources and scope

The first five features correspond to the official Telegram announcement. Other implementations, fixes and compatibility details follow the supplied source comparison, which did not include publicly verifiable commit links. They are not a promise of availability in every client.
